The body of an unidentified man in his early 30s was on Sunday, April 21, discovered in an unfinished building in Lelekpayea Community, located near the Duala Market along Boita Road, north of Gbarnga, Bong County.

An eyewitness account suggests that the individual may have met his demise after being accused of criminal activities, despite no evidence of stolen items found on his person. According to a resident of the community, Joe Gorson, the incident occurred around midnight on Saturday, when he heard commotion and witnessed individuals reportedly chasing the deceased towards his residence.

After the altercation, Gorson, along with three other community members, went to the scene during the early morning hours of Sunday, and found the man unconscious in a pool of blood with visible injuries. By then, the perpetrators had fled the scene.

Authorities, including the Liberia National Police Bong Detachment and community leaders, were promptly contacted for intervention. Subsequently, a fifteen-member jury was formed by the police to conduct a physical examination of the body, but their findings were not disclosed publicly.

The police have assured that the jury’s report will be forwarded to the Gbarnga City Corporation for necessary action. The deceased remains unidentified, and efforts to locate any family members have proved unsuccessful.

This incident marks the second death of an unidentified individual in the Lelekpayea Community in recent months.
